Boulder County Ranks High in Education and Quality Of Life

No matter where you’re moving, or even whether or not you have children in school, education is an important consideration for choosing a place to live. The quality of education in a community affects resale value and the quality of neighborhoods.

There are two school districts within Boulder County: Boulder Valley School District and St. Vrain School District. St. Vrain school district encompasses Longmont, Nitwot and Erie while Boulder Valley includes Boulder, Louisville, Gunbarrel, Lafayette and Superior.

In the Boulder Valley School District, students are ranked at the top in the state of Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) results and the district has been ranked #1 for student performance for two years in a row. Boulder Valley Schools receive a huge amount of community support, voters recently approved a tax increase of nearly $300 million for capital improvements to each of the 55 schools over the next six years. There are approximately 28,500 student currently enrolled in over 55 schools.

St. Vrain School District is home to over 27,000 students and operates 49 schools. The focus placed on student success is reflected through positive academic trends: Overall CSAP scores have increased on 89% of tests given over the last four years, 96% of District targets have been met in student achievement, the graduation rate for high school students is 86.6%, and 28% of all juniors and seniors took at least one advanced placement course.
